Head-to-Head battle: new drug challenges standard treatment for fatal lung disease

Summary
This study aims to see if a new drug called LYT-100 (deupirfenidone) works better and is as safe as the current standard drug, pirfenidone, for adults with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious lung-scarring disease. About 1,100 participants will be randomly assigned to take one of the two pills three times a day for at least a year, and neither they nor their doctors will know which one they are getting. The main goal is to measure which drug better slows the decline in lung function over 52 weeks.
