NCT ID NCT03475173
First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study is testing a new, non-invasive device that uses laser speckle imaging to measure blood flow and structure inside the eye. Researchers will compare images from 500 people with and without retinal defects to see if the device can detect abnormalities. The goal is to find a better way to diagnose conditions like optic neuropathy and retinal artery occlusion without invasive procedures.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
LSFG-NAVI device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new, non-invasive way to diagnose and monitor eye conditions like optic neuropathy and retinal artery occlusion.
What could go wrong
This is an early, observational study focused on testing a device, not a treatment. It may not lead to a new diagnostic tool if the technology proves unreliable or not better than existing methods.
Conditions
