New DNA scanner could speed up treatment for diabetic foot infections

Summary

This study compares a new rapid DNA tool (MinION) with standard lab tests to identify bacteria and fungi in bone samples from people with diabetic foot infections. The goal is to see if the new method can find more germs and provide results faster, helping doctors choose the right antibiotics sooner. About 43 adults with diabetic foot osteomyelitis will take part.
