Electric toothbrush tested as potential fix for fused teeth

NCT ID NCT05695105

Summary

This study tested a new, non-invasive approach to treat dental ankylosis, a condition where a tooth fuses to the jawbone and stops growing properly. Researchers had participants use an electric toothbrush to gently vibrate the affected tooth daily, aiming to restore its normal growth and position. If that didn't work for a permanent tooth, a small orthodontic device was used to apply gentle force over several weeks.
