Back block vs spinal tap: which is better for hip surgery pain?

NCT ID NCT07427082

Summary

This study tested a newer type of numbing injection in the back (called an Erector Spinae Plane or ESP block) against the standard spinal anesthesia for people having hip or upper thigh bone surgery. Researchers wanted to see which method provided better pain control during and after surgery, and which was safer. They compared how long pain relief lasted after surgery and whether patients needed extra strong painkillers during the operation.
