Zap your ear, calm your nerves? new study tests surgery anxiety relief

NCT ID NCT07458646

Summary

This study is testing if a gentle, non-invasive electrical stimulation of a nerve in the ear can help reduce anxiety and depression around the time of breast cancer surgery. About 232 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the real stimulation or a fake version during their operation. Researchers will measure if it helps with emotions, pain, nausea, sleep, and overall recovery after surgery.
