Zapping nerves to stop accidents: new hope for spinal injury patients

NCT ID NCT05626816

Summary

This study is investigating whether gently stimulating genital nerves with external electrodes can help improve bowel control in people living with spinal cord injuries. Researchers will measure how the rectum and anus function with and without stimulation in 52 participants to see if this approach might reduce fecal incontinence. The goal is to understand who might benefit from this type of nerve stimulation and how it affects bowel function.
