Finger nerve study: could a cast be as good as surgery?

NCT ID NCT05536609

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at the best way to treat nerve injuries in the fingers. It will compare two common treatments: surgery to repair the nerve, or wearing a cast without surgery. About 166 adults with a cut nerve in one finger will be randomly assigned to one of these treatments. The main goal is to see which approach leads to better recovery of feeling and hand function one year later.
