First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting a numbing medicine near the nerve that controls the voice box could reduce chronic cough. 17 adults with a cough thought to be caused by an overactive nerve were randomly assigned to get either the real nerve block or a placebo (salt water) injection. Participants kept cough diaries and filled out quality-of-life questionnaires to see if the treatment helped.
