New ultrasound technique peers into newborn brains without radiation

NCT ID NCT05648812

First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study uses special ultrasound techniques to look at blood flow and tissue stiffness in the brains of newborn babies. Researchers will scan babies under 7 months old who are in the hospital for conditions like oxygen deprivation or stroke. The goal is to better understand how the brain adapts after birth and during illness, not to provide a direct treatment.
