New drug combo before kidney cancer surgery shows promise in clinical trial

Summary
This study tests whether giving a combination of two drugs (axitinib and a PD-1 inhibitor) before surgery can help prevent kidney cancer from coming back in patients at high risk of recurrence. About 298 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug combo followed by surgery or surgery alone. The main goal is to see if the drug combo improves the time patients stay cancer-free after treatment.
