First seen Mar 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study follows about 800 infants who have a small opening in their belly wall (patent processus vaginalis) found during surgery for another condition. Researchers will contact families yearly until the child turns 18 to see if and when a hernia develops. The goal is to learn how often hernias appear and how long it takes, helping doctors decide if early treatment is needed.
