Nasal spray may prevent breathing problems in children with colds undergoing anesthesia

NCT ID NCT07000877

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving children with recent colds a nasal decongestant spray just before surgery can reduce breathing complications like coughing, airway blockage, or low oxygen levels during and after anesthesia. About 200 children aged 1 to 8 will receive either the spray or a placebo, and researchers will monitor their breathing and ask families how easy the treatment was to use.
