Simple supplement may shield cancer patients from permanent hearing loss

Summary
This study tests whether N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a widely available supplement, can prevent the permanent hearing loss often caused by the chemotherapy drug cisplatin. About 40 adults receiving high-dose cisplatin will be randomly assigned to take NAC or a placebo during their treatment. Researchers will measure hearing changes using specialized tests to see if NAC offers protection.
