NCT ID NCT04481035

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether N-acetylcysteine (NAC), an over-the-counter antioxidant, could improve learning, behavior, and motor skills in children with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Five children aged 8–16 took part in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The goal was to see if NAC could ease symptoms like attention problems and poor coordination, but the study was very small and exploratory.
