Brain scan study tests common supplement for autism symptoms

Summary
This study is testing whether a single dose of N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a nutritional supplement, can affect brain chemistry related to repetitive behaviors in children with autism. Researchers will give 24 children with autism one dose of NAC and use brain scans to measure changes in brain chemicals and activity. The goal is to understand how NAC might work in the brain to potentially help with autism symptoms.
