Could a common supplement help women need fewer opioids after surgery?

NCT ID NCT06039566

Summary

This study is testing whether giving an IV medication called n-acetylcysteine during a hysterectomy can help reduce the amount of opioid painkillers patients need afterward. It will involve 240 women having laparoscopic or robotic hysterectomies. Half will receive the medication during surgery, and half will receive a placebo, and researchers will track their pain levels and medication use for three days.
