First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether music therapy could prevent hospital-acquired delirium (sudden confusion) in patients with Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia. Thirty hospitalized adults were randomly assigned to music therapy, self-directed music listening, or standard care. The music therapy group received 30-minute sessions three times a week plus personalized playlists. Researchers tracked delirium, medication use, and physical restraint needs.
