Smart patch promises shorter hospital stays after gut surgery

Summary
This study tests a wearable patch called MultiSense that tracks heart rate and other vital signs for five days after people go home from major digestive surgery. The goal is to see if the patch allows patients at high risk for complications to safely leave the hospital earlier than usual, while still catching any problems quickly. About 490 adults scheduled for gastrointestinal surgery will be randomly assigned to either the patch or standard care.
