New approach aims to improve stem cell transplants for older myeloma patients

Summary
This study tests whether adding siltuximab (a drug that blocks a protein called IL-6) to a personalized dose of melphalan (chemotherapy) works better than the standard melphalan dose for people over 60 with multiple myeloma who are getting a stem cell transplant. About 215 participants will be enrolled. The goal is to see if this combination leads to a deeper cancer remission and reduces side effects after transplant.
