One MRI scan to rule them all: new study tests quick organ check for diabetes

NCT ID NCT04137705

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether a single MRI scan can reliably measure body composition and the health of multiple organs (like the liver, heart, and kidneys) in one session. It included 43 adults—some with Type 2 Diabetes and some healthy volunteers. The goal was to see if the scan gives consistent results when repeated on the same machine or on different machines, not to treat or cure the disease.
