Oxygen check could replace dye test in bowel surgery

NCT ID NCT07467980

First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at a new way to check if the bowel is healing properly after surgery. Instead of using a dye that can cause allergies, doctors will measure oxygen levels in the tissue. The goal is to see if low oxygen can predict leaks or narrowing of the bowel. About 80 adults having colon or rectal surgery will take part.
