Smart scans aim to spare healthy lungs during cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT06925295

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study explores whether special MRI scans using xenon gas can map lung function and help doctors aim radiation away from healthy parts of the lung during lung cancer treatment. About 15 adults aged 18-80 with lung cancer will be enrolled. The goal is to see if this imaging approach can reduce lung damage and lay the groundwork for future, larger studies.
