MRI may sharpen tumor targeting in esophageal cancer radiation
NCT ID NCT07416825
First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using MRI scans helps doctors outline esophageal tumors more consistently for radiation therapy. 21 patients with advanced esophageal cancer had MRI scans in addition to standard CT and PET/CT scans. Five radiation oncologists independently outlined the tumors on different image types, and researchers measured how much their outlines agreed. The goal was to see if MRI reduces variation between doctors, potentially leading to more accurate radiation treatment.
