New DNA test aims to predict cancer return before it happens

NCT ID NCT02872662

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study followed 308 people with MDS (a bone marrow disorder) who had a stem cell transplant. Researchers looked for unique genetic mutations in each patient's cancer cells and checked for those mutations in blood and bone marrow samples after transplant. The goal was to see if detecting these mutations early could predict a relapse before symptoms appear.
