First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tests an experimental mRNA vaccine (BNT166a) to see if it is safe and triggers a strong immune response against mpox (formerly monkeypox). About 310 healthy adults in African countries will receive either the vaccine or a placebo. The trial is double-blind, meaning neither participants nor doctors know who gets the real vaccine.
