Simple monthly ECG could prevent strokes in seniors
NCT ID NCT07438054
First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study is testing whether monthly heart checks (ECGs) at local health clinics can find undiagnosed atrial fibrillation—a common, often silent heart rhythm problem—in adults aged 65 and older. Over 1,000 participants in Ordu, Turkey will get a quick, painless ECG once a month for a year. If a new irregular heartbeat is found, doctors will start blood thinners to reduce stroke risk. The goal is to see if this simple screening approach works in a real-world primary care setting.
