First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a nutrient called betaine to infant formula can safely prevent rapid weight gain and obesity in babies. Researchers are enrolling 50 formula-fed infants whose mothers had a higher body weight before pregnancy. The babies receive either betaine-supplemented or regular formula, and their growth, body fat, and gut bacteria are tracked.
