Can a fitness tracker and coaching get young cancer patients moving?

NCT ID NCT06182163

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether a mobile health program—including a fitness tracker with reminders to move, coaching sessions, and an app-based peer support group—could help 20 teens and young adults (ages 12-21) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) reduce the time they spend sitting or lying down during maintenance chemotherapy. The program lasted 10 weeks, and researchers measured how feasible and acceptable it was, as well as whether it improved quality of life and reduced inflammation. The goal was to see if this approach could help young patients become more active during their cancer treatment.
