Can reflex exercises unlock better hand skills in kids with delays?
NCT ID NCT07764926
First seen Aug 14, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026
Summary
This trial tests whether Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) therapy can improve fine motor skills in children aged 2-6 with developmental delays. Participants receive either MNRI sessions or standard care for four weeks. The study measures changes in hand function and reflex integration to see if this therapy helps children master everyday tasks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) therapy, a series of exercises and activities targeting primitive reflex integration
- What this could lead to
- If effective, MNRI therapy could offer a non-drug way to improve hand function and daily living skills in children with developmental delays.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 34 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy's benefits are uncertain and require further validation.

Inclusion Criteria: * Children of 2-6 years of age presenting with development delay. * Severity of development delay in each domain will be labeled as mild, moderate and severe categories according to Denver Developmental Scale-II . * Children showing signs of unintegrated primitive reflexes (e.g., Moro, ATNR, STNR, TLR, etc.), which MNRI specifically targets. Exclusion Criteria: * History of orthopedic surgery within the last half a year * Any other neurological or musculoskeletal disorders that might hamper the study's results (e.g., traumatic brain disorders, muscular dystrophy, and epilepsy). * Patients with autism and non-cooperative for development assessment. * Children whose development level was above 8 years of age as Griffith scale measures development age only up to 8 years .
