New hope for kids with severe colitis: drug trial shows promise

NCT ID NCT05784246

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tested a drug called mirikizumab in 63 children aged 2 to 17 with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, a condition causing inflammation in the colon. The goal was to see if the drug can help control the disease and improve symptoms over 52 weeks. Participants had already tried other treatments without success. The results will help doctors understand if mirikizumab is a safe and effective option for managing this chronic condition in children.
