Bladder drug may smooth kidney stone surgery

NCT ID NCT07566416

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking mirabegron, a drug used for overactive bladder, before kidney stone surgery helps doctors insert a special tube (ureteral access sheath) more easily. The idea is that mirabegron relaxes the ureter, making it easier to reach and remove the stone. The study involved 131 patients and compared those who took the drug to those who did not, checking for successful tube placement and any injury to the ureter.
