New surgical approach aims to improve healing of complex anal fistulas

NCT ID NCT06484660

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study compares a minimally invasive surgical technique to standard surgery for treating complex perianal fistulas (abnormal tunnels near the anus). About 40 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. Researchers will measure healing rates, pain, incontinence, and quality of life over six months to see if the less invasive approach leads to better outcomes.
