Digital mindfulness shows promise for caregiver burnout in dementia
NCT ID NCT07188454
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested a 5-week online mindfulness program (AIZEN) for professional and family caregivers of people with dementia. Sixty caregivers in Taiwan attended weekly live classes and did daily 10-minute guided practices. Researchers measured burnout and caregiver burden before, after, and at a 5-week follow-up to see if the program helped reduce stress.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mindfulness-Based Digital Intervention (AIZEN Program)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a practical, low-cost way to ease caregiver burnout and stress.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed trial with only 60 participants in Taiwan, so results may not apply to all caregivers. The program requires daily practice and internet access, which may be a barrier for some.
