Exercise and feeding tips may boost milk production in obese mothers — a trial puts it to the test
NCT ID NCT06975527
First seen Jul 28, 2026 · Last updated Jul 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study investigates whether adding aerobic exercise to standard breastfeeding guidelines can improve milk flow and help manage body weight in obese mothers with low milk supply. The trial enrolls women aged 25–35 with a BMI of 30–40 who are two months postpartum. Researchers will measure changes in milk flow, prolactin levels, and weight of both mother and baby.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- aerobic exercise and breastfeeding guidelines
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this approach could offer a simple, drug-free way to boost milk production and help manage weight in obese breastfeeding mothers.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial without a control group for the exercise component, so results may not be generalizable. Individual responses to exercise and guidelines can vary widely.
