Blood test breakthrough: tiny molecules may spot liver cancer early

NCT ID NCT07404566

First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether measuring specific microRNAs in the blood can help diagnose liver cancer in people with hepatitis C. Researchers tested 84 participants, including healthy controls and patients with hepatitis C, cirrhosis, or liver cancer. They measured levels of five microRNAs to see how accurately they could tell liver cancer apart from other liver conditions. The goal is to find a better, less invasive screening tool than current blood tests.
