Summary

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
microdialysis catheter
What this could lead to
If successful, this monitoring method could help doctors detect internal leaks earlier after rectal surgery, potentially reducing complications.
What could go wrong
This was a small, completed trial with only 21 participants, so results may not apply widely. The device is for monitoring only and does not treat the cancer itself.
