Can a 'Poop Pill' stop superbugs in their tracks?
NCT ID NCT05835206
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether a microbiome therapy (like a fecal transplant) can safely reduce antibiotic-resistant bacteria living in the gut of hospitalized patients. About 40 adults who carry these superbugs will receive either the therapy or a placebo. The goal is to lower the amount of resistant bacteria, which may help prevent future infections and reduce the need for strong antibiotics.
