Blue dye tested to protect bladder in dangerous placenta surgeries

NCT ID NCT07129135

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at whether filling the bladder with a blue dye before surgery helps doctors see and avoid injuries to the bladder or ureters during a cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta, a condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterus. 60 women were split into two groups: one received the blue dye, the other standard care. The goal was to see if the dye reduces urinary tract injuries during this high-risk operation.
