Common diabetes drug enters fight against rare childhood brain cancer

NCT ID NCT07226453

Summary

This study is testing whether metformin, a medication typically used for diabetes, can help control recurrent PFA ependymoma, a rare brain tumor that affects children and young adults. Researchers will give participants daily oral metformin to see if it stabilizes tumor growth and changes certain markers in tumor cells. The study involves 30 participants aged 1-39 who have already had surgery and radiation for their tumor but have seen it return or progress.
