Summary
This study tests whether adding metformin (a diabetes medication) to standard antidepressants can improve depression symptoms in obese adults. About 140 newly diagnosed depressed patients with a BMI over 25 will receive either metformin or a placebo alongside their antidepressant. The main goal is to see if depression scores drop more with metformin, and researchers will also check for changes in stress-related blood markers.
