Rare disease study probes hidden fat problems in vEDS patients

NCT ID NCT07516496

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how people with vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS), a rare genetic condition that weakens blood vessels, process and store fat. Researchers want to see if vEDS affects fat tissue, which could raise the risk of insulin resistance and diabetes. About 15 adults with vEDS and a similar group without the condition will have body scans, blood tests, and a sugar-drink test. The goal is to better understand these metabolic risks, not to test a treatment.
