First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tests whether substances in the blood from a decayed tooth can predict if a nerve-saving treatment will work. Researchers will take a small blood sample from the tooth during treatment and check outcomes after 12 months in 60 patients aged 16-50. The goal is to find a better way to diagnose and treat tooth pain.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps dentists decide the best treatment for a painful tooth, potentially saving more teeth.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants. The biomarkers may not reliably predict outcomes, and results may not apply to all patients.
