Summary
This study tested whether a medication called memantine (brand name Namenda) could help improve social skills in children and teens with autism spectrum disorder and similar conditions. Participants aged 8-18 took the drug or a placebo for 12 weeks. The goal was to see if the medication, which is usually used for Alzheimer's disease, could reduce social impairment in these youth.
