Could skipping a lymph node test improve life quality for elderly melanoma patients?

NCT ID NCT07068074

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing just the melanoma and some surrounding skin (wide local excision) works as well as also removing nearby lymph nodes (sentinel lymph node biopsy) in adults aged 75 and older with early-stage melanoma. The goal is to see if the simpler surgery leads to better overall well-being and quality of life. About 428 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches and followed over time.
