Mind over nerve: can imagining movement alter nerve sensitivity?

NCT ID NCT07154017

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether combining movement imagery techniques with nerve gliding exercises can change how sensitive the median nerve is to pressure and stretch. Ten healthy volunteers (ages 18-45) will receive both the combined treatment and a control, with a 72-hour break in between. Researchers will measure pain thresholds, elbow range of motion, and where sensations are felt. This is early-stage research to understand how the nervous system responds, not a treatment study.
