Major trial tests new drug cocktail to wipe out parasitic diseases in island communities

Summary
This large study aims to see if a new combination of existing drugs (moxidectin, diethylcarbamazine, and albendazole) is safe and effective for treating three parasitic diseases—lymphatic filariasis, scabies, and strongyloidiasis—in communities in Fiji where these infections are common. Researchers will compare this new combination to the current standard treatment. About 5,100 residents will receive three single doses of medication, one year apart, and be monitored for safety and whether the treatment clears the infections.
