Massage or just bandages? new study tests best treatment for leg swelling

NCT ID NCT06750679

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether adding manual lymph drainage (a special massage) to standard compression therapy helps people with leg lymphedema (chronic swelling). 31 adults with stage 2 or 3 lymphedema were split into two groups: one got compression bandages alone, the other got compression plus manual lymph drainage. Researchers measured swelling, tissue thickness, and quality of life to see if the massage made a meaningful difference.
