Mammograms may reveal hidden heart risks: study tests new approach
NCT ID NCT04983875
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looked at whether telling women about calcium buildup in their breast arteries (found during a mammogram) could help them take steps to protect their heart. Over 5,000 women took part, and a smaller group was randomly chosen to receive this extra information. The goal was to see if knowing about this sign of possible heart disease would lead women to see a heart doctor or make healthier lifestyle changes.
