Fatty liver may cloud key imaging during gallbladder removal

NCT ID NCT07297225

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at 150 adults having gallbladder surgery to see if fatty liver disease (MAFLD) makes a special imaging dye (ICG) work less well. The dye helps surgeons see bile ducts clearly. The researchers found that MAFLD can reduce image quality and created a formula to predict this before surgery. The goal is to help surgeons plan better for safer operations.
